Reviews of books, and “You should read” articles.

Let’s go to ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens

“I wadn’t aware that words could hold so much. I didn’t know a sentence could be so full.” Delia Owens’s debut fiction novel is bursting at the seams with full, beautiful sentences.

Where the Crawdads Sing is awe-inspiring with a bewitching story set in the wonders of nature — the Marsh. Which you’ll find is filled with love, hope, regret, and despair.

Afterthoughts for Afterlove by Tanya Byrne

“The lesbian love story you’ve been dying to read.” Afterlove by Tanya Byrne delivers on this promise and so much more. It’s easily up there now as one of my favourite romance novels, and is a must-read.

I’ve been wanting to review this book for quite some time now. The author’s writing is absolutely beautiful, and will take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

You should read My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

Set during the 1980s at the peak of satanic panic, My Best Friend’s Exorcism follows Abby and Gretchen as they face off against the devil and highschool life.

This book manages to capture all the fun of a great Summer horror movie whilst giving you a glimpse into the life of a teenage girl well.

Girl Loves Book, ‘Boy Swallows Universe’ by Trent Dalton

I’ve been meaning to write about this book for awhile now, because it consumed me in the best way writing can. I found myself reading Boy Swallows Universe every chance I got. Trent Dalton’s style is just so gorgeous and captivating.

Slaughterhouse-Five Slays, Kurt Vonnegut

I never pictured myself reading Slaughterhouse-Five until an important friend of mine recommended it to me, and I’m glad I gave the book a chance.

Who would have guessed I’d find myself well, loving, such a well loved book? I wish I had picked it up earlier.
