Dragon Ball fans are absolutely eating it up this year—with Budokai Tenkaichi 4 recently getting announced, more Xenoverse DLC, Dragon Ball Breakers… And now an official, Dragon Ball Card Game!
Check out the official trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Card Game!
The Dragon Ball Card Game is based on the popular Super TCG, which you can learn more about on the official website. It’s one of the biggest physical Trading Card Games, up there with Pokémon.
It’ll be a digital version of the Super TCG, so you can expect the cards, rulesets, and gameplay to be quite similar. It’s perfect for people who want to get into the TCG, but aren’t able to find an active local scene (or don’t want to spend money on the cards).
There’s even a planned beta test for the game starting out later this month. You can even sign-up for it over on the official website. Just keep in mind, this test is only for the PC version and there’s a limited amount of spots.
In this test, the developers will be testing server load, match verification, and looking out for any bugs. It looks like the game is still on schedule to release in 2023.
The Super TCG has some of the most fire card art I’ve ever seen.
Don’t be fooled, it might say “Super”, but the game has characters/cards from all eras of Dragon Ball. Whether you’re a fan of GT, Z, or anything in-between, it has plenty of fan favourites and also characters that are only seen in Heroes or OVAs!
After getting various card modes in Xenoverse and Kakarot, it’s finally time we get a proper, standalone title! This is looking to be better than the previous Super DB Heroes Switch title, too, which you can read about here.
The digital card game scene could use a massive shake-up. It’s been stale with Hearthstone reigning supreme for years. This isn’t the only card game coming out, either, with Pokémon bringing out a new and revamped, Pokémon Trading Card Game Live.
This new game marks a new era of Dragon Ball, as the developers aren’t scared to venture into other genres. The visuals look great, the card art is fantastic—and it’ll be good to see how they represent all the action using the in-game avatars as seen in the trailer. I believe it’s coming to PC, Android, and iOS.
